Marafa Hell's Kitchen

Kenya's Grand Canyon

Just outside Malindi lies Marafa Hell’s Kitchen, a stunning sandstone canyon
carved by centuries of wind and rain. Local calls its Nyari, meaning “the place
broken by itself” The colourfully gorges with shades of red, orange, white, and
pink _ glows beautifully, especially at sunset, making it photographs dream.
Beyond the view, Marafa is wrapped in a local legend. Somme believe the canyon
was formed as a punishment to a Wealthy family who wasted milk while their
neighbours starved. The myths, together with the breathtaking scenery, make it
a both cultural and natural wonder.
At Coastal Rides Kenya, we organize trips to Marafa Hell’s Kitchen, often timed
with sunset, so you can enjoy the magical colours and the storytelling that brings
this place to life.
